All of the above can put your electronics out of action quicker than fying an egg on the hood of a black dunebuggy.
Do not fear! If your Summer fun puts your electronics out of action, we have a some good tips on how to get them functioning again. We also have some product suggestions on how to protect your gadgets from the summer elements.
Don't let the heat beat you
You may have made the mistake of leaving your phone out in the sun while you went swimming. Or maybe you forgot it in the car while you ran in the store to buy a flash drive for computer class. Perhaps even that you just had it in your pocket or purse while you were walking around. It’s actually not hard to expose your phone to too much heat. If you have an iPhone, it may display a message like this: "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it."
First of all, don’t panic! This message does not mean that your phone is ruined. It only means that your phone is smart enough to stay inactive until it cools down. Secondly, don’t overreact and toss your phone in the fridge or freezer. Although they are cold, they are also full of condensation and moisture is bad for gadgets.
Here’s what you can do to help your phone cool down:
- Take the case off of the phone. This will help the surrounding air pull heat away from your phone so it can cool down a great deal faster.
- Put the phone in front of your car’s air conditioner. It will typically take a few minutes to cool your phone down to where you can use it again.
- Try to be patient. You are better off not using your phone until it is nice and cool again.
